Counter-Strike 1.6: first impressions!
Finally I could a week ago play a few hours on line with this fantastic beta. Indeed, "fantastic". Why fantastic? Quite simply I had never observed as many innovations and changes which (for my part) completely will make the game move forwards, we have seen the other versions of cs dissapoint in the past (i would go back to 1.3 tomorrow) but this is a true work of art.
I will start by speaking about the new weapons and new equipment.
The shield:
- Name: Tactical Shield - Price: 1000 $ - special Function: protect the player who holds it.
Ah the shield, this object haunted our dreams, giving place to many speculations relating to its real utility. To start, this object is accessible only to CTs, however nothing prevents one T from collecting it on the corpse of an enemy.
Attention, the shield takes the place of the primary weapon , you will have only your gun and your knife to defend you. You can well obviously change weapon behind your shield, take your HE or prepare your knife for a humiliating kill.
The secondary function of the shield serves of course to completely protect you from fire as the enemy. It proved at the time of the parts which the shield lost all its efficaity if one straffait or that one moved a little too the mouse . However if one remains quite motionless (or while avancant or moving back) vis-a-vis the enemy this last will be able to only see rebounding its balls on your shield.
Once that your adversary is with court of ammunition, you do not have case to return in "normal" mode and you will be able to thus draw to him above. Attention, your balls, you do not waste will be constrained to reload with overdraft !
Intéractions:
I carried out several tests concerning the intéraction of the shield with the various grenades. First report: if the grenades are launched on the player rather strong they rebound on the shield . But however, when they are launched on the ground they roll under the shield , although the player is squatted and completely protected. In all the cases at the time of one launched of Flash, the player with the shield is more or less plugged, the shield is not thus used as protection. Idem for HE, the shield is the equivalent of a wall in CS, it does not reduce the dégats and does not protect you .
Bugs:
The shield reserve also some surprises, bugs or not? The final version will say it to us. First of all impossible to put the silencer on the USP with the shield. You can throw your shield, put the silencer, take again the shield and hop, by magic the silencer will have disappeared.
Then, the shield protects you you, but at all your small comrades who would have had the idea to hide behind you. The least ball of Glock will touch (without making less dégat) your teammates which is behind you.
Lastly, Dual the Elite? Question outstanding, because I did not think of testing to take the shield WITH Dual the Elite. Does one find itself with only one Beretta? Does the play consider whereas the Dual one corresponds to a principal weapon?
Ah yes I forgot, the shield does not protect at all from the blows of knife, what a irônie!
Conclusion:
To conclude I would say that the shield brings a real innovation to the play, but I remain enough skeptic when his great use by the players. Though not too expensive, the fact of remaining only with the gun will end up wearying the players in the more or less short term. Lastly, I am sure that one will be entitled to many duels of shield, and I acknowledge that the latter are rather laughing:)
